1814  The last London Frost Fair on the frozen Thames River. This featured large selections of food vendors and entertainment on ice.

1841   was born. A cookery teacher and writer, founder of the New York Cooking School in 1876.

1861  David Wesson was born, the founder of the Wesson Oil, the first vegetable oil used in the USA.

1890  Rolla N. Harger was born, a biochemist who invented the first successful machine to test blood alcohol content in 1931.
