Doug Artisan Pizzeria & Restaurant
There are so many reasons to visit this place. Their menu changes with the seasons, and that is a good thing. It is not the same old food year after year. Of course the winning dishes remain, but they always innovating using the farm to table approach. They work with local farms and food markets to create seasonal menus which always keeps things fresh, no pun intended.
There is one such creation for the Fall. Roasted butternut squash pizza with braised kale, sage, fresh mozzarella and pumpkin seeds. They have pasta dishes as well, including a killer mac and cheese and even pumpkin ravioli. If you are not a big pumpkin fan then of course there is the regular stand by dishes they are known for like meatballs, small plates of salumi and cheese board and simple strip steak and chicken dishes.
This space has been an Italian restaurant under a different owner or name nearly as many times in the last decade. One thing remains, is, the brick oven. It is this wood-fired brick oven that makes some of the very best pizza in New Jersey and that outside of Italy itself. I am serious. Somehow they get it right all the time.
In addition to two dining rooms, they a have room for private parties, a very nice romantic back patio for outdoor dining.
